A Tuesday like any other, filled with variety.
\nFirst things first, a jaunt to the orthodontist with Geneva,
\nafter which we drove through a car wash with Oma’s lovely green minivan,
\nwhich has been carrying around an increasingly insufferable load of Arizona dirt,
\nand now is once again restored to its proper shine and glory.<\/p>\n

Thereafter school commenced,
\nwith History, Great Books, Art, and –
\nbecause the Mother Unit (that would be me)
\nhad enough of tip-toeing around 8,000 legos on her living room floor,
\nand wouldn’t allow them to be transferred to the dining room table,
\nsome outdoor work on the venerable Venator.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Jacob and Geneva were sent off to his room to read poetry to each other.
\nHere is Jacob reading,
\nat a remarkable clip,
\na very amusing poem entitled,
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Too Many Daves
\n<\/strong>by

\n<\/strong>
\nDid I ever tell you that Mrs. McCave
\nHad twenty-three sons and she named them all Dave?
\nWell, she did.\u00c2\u00a0 And that wasn’t a smart thing to do.
\nYou see, when she wants one and calls out, “Yoo-Hoo!
\nCome into the house, Dave!” she doesn’t get one<\/em>.
\nAll twenty-three Daves of hers come on the run!
\nThis makes things quite difficult at the McCaves,
\nAs you can imagine, with so many Daves.
\nAnd often she wishes that, when they were born,
\nShe had named one of them Bodkin Van Horn
\nAnd one of them Hoos-Foos. And one of them Snimm.
\nand one of them Hot-Shot.\u00c2\u00a0 And one Sunny Jim.
\nAnd one of them Shadrack.\u00c2\u00a0 And one of them Blinkey.
\nAnd one of them Stuffy.\u00c2\u00a0 And one of them Stinkey.
\nAnother one Putt-Putt.\u00c2\u00a0 Another one Moon Face.
\nAnother one Marvin O’Gravel Balloon Face.
\nAnd one of them Ziggy.\u00c2\u00a0 And one Soggy Muff.
\nOne Buffalo Bill.\u00c2\u00a0 And one Biffalo Buff.
\nAnd one of them Sneepy.\u00c2\u00a0 And one Weepy Weed.
\nAnd one Paris Garters. And one Harris Tweed.
\nAnd one of them Sir Michael Carmichael Zutt
\nAnd one of them Oliver Boliver Butt
\nAnd one of them Zanzibar Buck Buck McFate…
\nBut she didn’t do it.\u00c2\u00a0 And now it’s too late.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Megan studying the Poloponnesian War<\/a>
\n(and doing touch-ups on a character drawing for her novel)<\/p>\n


\n\"\"<\/a>Laurent in her online class,
\ndiscussing the Beatitudes…
\n(they were supposed to discuss the Apocalypse of John, but clearly that subject will require at least a full class of its own).
\nNext on their schedule are books 1-8 of
\nConfessions (St. Augustine<\/a>!)<\/em><\/p>\n

After school hours, I proposed a drive-about for the purpose of enjoying the shinyness of the clean minivan.
\nThe first stop was Wal-mart, where Megan wanted to buy herself some leggings:<\/p>\n

\nWhile she and Laurent were inside
\n(Laurent had to buy herself some more blue yarn)
\nwe drove
\naround
\nand
\naround
\nin the parking lot,
\nuntil I happened to drive down a row where I saw<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

a black Challenger<\/a>.<\/strong>
\nI circled it slowwwwwly, drinking it in from every angle.
\nMy mother shakes her head.
\nShe does not understand me.
\nBut she says I am like my dad.
\n\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

After Wal-mart
\n(I was loathe to leave that car behind…)
\nwe drove home via a circuitous route,
\ntaking a detour through the Stadium complex to show mother
\nthe sights.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Back home again, Laurent set up shop immediately with her yarn to work on whatever that crafty project is she has going (I think it may be a purse).
\nShe was amused to notice that she was wearing white and blue,
\ncrocheting with white and blue yarn,
\nand wearing white and blue nail polish on her fingernails.
\nShe’s quite consistent in her likes!<\/p>\n

Laurent and Jacob have brought the
\n“8,000 legos” back to the
\nliving room,
\nand are on the home stretch – Jacob is determined
