{"id":3370,"date":"2012-01-27T01:36:09","date_gmt":"2012-01-27T08:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nettiesworld.com\/?p=3370"},"modified":"2017-06-28T23:15:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T06:15:00","slug":"re-boot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/?p=3370","title":{"rendered":"Re-boot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although I have debated with myself as to how much to say about this weekend, I&#8217;ve decided to come down on the side of honesty, and ask for your prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, it suddenly occurred to me that in 19 years of marriage, I have never once had a real vacation &#8211; even just a weekend completely away by myself.\u00a0 And it occurred to me that that might be why I have felt like I was hanging by a thread for so long.\u00a0 And the more I&#8217;ve thought about it, the less surprising my symptoms of stress (sleep disturbances, lack of motivation, inability to focus, lethargy and weight gain) seem.\u00a0 In the last two years alone,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I underwent a fairly major surgery<\/li>\n<li>Almost immediately after that my father passed away<\/li>\n<li>At the end of that year we began a two month series of evaluations that concluded with our son&#8217;s diagnosis on the autism spectrum<\/li>\n<li>We said goodbye to one church family and began the search for our new home<\/li>\n<li>My mother came to live with us for a season, only to fall several times and wind up in a wheelchair, subsequently requiring therapy to restore her strength<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile our family was going through the process of converting to Catholicism, a joyful but spiritually challenging time<\/li>\n<li>Immediately after being received into the church at Easter of 2011, our house burned down<\/li>\n<li>Immediately after our house burned down, my husband lost his job and was unemployed for about 2 months<\/li>\n<li>We spent the next seven months displaced, waiting for our home to be rebuilt<\/li>\n<li>I was primarily responsible for deciding every single aspect of the interior design of our home<\/li>\n<li>I continued to home school four children through it all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure, but I think there might be a little PTSD going on here.\u00a0 Anyway, the upshot is, I need a break, and my family is graciously sending me off on a private retreat this weekend.\u00a0 I am looking forward to some quiet reflection at the Franciscan Renewal center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/adoptedjoy.com\/?attachment_id=3371\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3371\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3371\" src=\"http:\/\/adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/RoseCourt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/RoseCourt.jpg 275w, https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/RoseCourt-259x180.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><\/a>I deeply desire to come back refreshed and enthusiastic about my calling of service to my beloved family.\u00a0 Your prayers to that end would be greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although I have debated with myself as to how much to say about this weekend, I&#8217;ve decided to come down on the side of honesty, and ask for your prayers.
