{"id":3177,"date":"2011-12-19T00:19:58","date_gmt":"2011-12-19T07:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nettiesworld.com\/?p=3177"},"modified":"2017-06-28T23:18:04","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T06:18:04","slug":"week-at-a-glance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/?p=3177","title":{"rendered":"Week at a glance&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unpacking boxes<\/li>\n<li>Sorting books we don&#8217;t want to keep, starting to make a list by category (ie. inspirational; cookbooks; nutrition and wellness; motherhood; homeschooling; theology of various sorts; novels we&#8217;re done reading, etc.) with some vague hope or plan of offering them to anyone who might be interested, only to get through two boxes and decide it was a far, <em>far<\/em> more tedious task than I had any desire to follow through to its completion, and give up<\/li>\n<li>Sorting clothes that don&#8217;t fit any more<\/li>\n<li>Sorting DVD&#8217;s <em>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/adoptedjoy.com\/2011\/12\/19\/week-at-a-glance\/too-many-dvds\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3179\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3179\" title=\"Too Many DVDs.\" src=\"http:\/\/adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/DSC_0191_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/DSC_0191_web.jpg 640w, https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/DSC_0191_web-227x180.jpg 227w, https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/DSC_0191_web-504x400.jpg 504w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/em><em>(oh.my.goodness.\u00a0 sooooooooooo many dvds&#8230;.)<\/em>\n<\/li>\n<li>Shopping for and installing drawers and hanging rods for the family closet and beginning to get a feel for the way it works (P.S. I love the way it works)<\/li>\n<li>Losing my mind a little more each day that I look at the seemingly insurmountable dishevelment that still remains unsorted (I&#8217;m one of those people that is perfectly sane as long as they are surrounded by perfect order.\u00a0 Thus, as you can imagine, I have not known a moment of sanity since I bore my first child&#8230;)<\/li>\n<li>Shopping for and installing curtains and blinds for the living room and bedrooms<\/li>\n<li>Taking the kids to Sun Lakes for the weekend<\/li>\n<li>Celebrating Jeff&#8217;s birthday with a fish dinner on Friday, with much intense discussion regarding things tactical, primarily between Paul and Jeff&#8217;s friend (to whom we cryptically refer as C.S.M.), followed by more conversation in the parking lot which telephonically included my brother Doug, regarding things catechetical; followed by <em>Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol<\/em> at the IMAX (just Jeff and I went to the 10:45pm late show, highly recommend seeing it on the biggest screen you can possibly find.\u00a0 Also, you may find it particularly fun to bring along friends who are afraid of heights.\u00a0 It could be therapeutic.)<\/li>\n<li>Singing mass this morning, followed by a drive to Sun Lakes for a fabulous lunch of Fred&#8217;s Famous Grilled Chicken with the grands, Paul&#8217;s Uncle Jim and Aunt Jan, and Malinda and 6 mo. old baby Efrain, for the holding and cuddling and smooching of whom my daughters wage constant battles<\/li>\n<li>Unexpectedly hearing Laurent lead the Gospel Alleluia tonight at mass and getting completely choked up by that beautiful, clear voice singing the words of Mary &#8211; &#8220;Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.\u00a0 Let it be to me according to your word.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Being surprised by Jeff sneaking into our pew at the end of Mass, then finding out that he had picked Mother up at home and brought her along, so we could quickly run off and make it to a 6:30 show of <em>Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Coming out to the parking lot to find that I had left my headlights on two Sundays in a row (last week the discovery was made after Megan&#8217;s Locks of Love appointment), requiring a second rescue-jump (Thank you, Donna Barnella, for last week&#8217;s rescue, and Jeff and C.S.M. for this week&#8217;s), and heaping upon myself forever the well earned reputation of Giddy Scatterbrained Nincompoop<\/li>\n<li>Getting the engine started and making it to the 7:30 show, which was the really-truly-celebration we had originally planned for Jeff&#8217;s birthday, before many serendipitous (some might say providential) scheduling alterations brought about tonight&#8217;s delightful adventure.<\/li>\n<li>Having my computer upgraded to Windows 7 &#8211; so much nicer than Vista!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And now, for the week before Christmas &#8211; between the baking and the organizing it should be better and better.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a week.
