Today I accomplished my goal of clearing all the boxes off the dining room table, loading the first 5′ x 18″ x 72″ shelf with books and stowing it in Jacob’s room, filling several boxes with books to give away, taking Laurent to campus, making potato stew, and serving our first sit-down meal in our new home.\u00a0 And then I washed the dishes, cleaned the counters, picked up Laurent, made cookies and cranberry bread, and put away the first leftovers.\u00a0 Is it silly that I keep noting “the first” — the first meal, the first stew, the first leftovers, the first time processing pics on my computer… I can’t stop being thankful, is what the deal is.\u00a0 There’s just too much, too much blessing.\u00a0 Even when we spent the weekend fighting plumbing problems and had to call a plumber… even when we had my van come to a sputtering stop, and it is parked until Paul unpacks all the garage boxes and finds his tools (he did most of that today)… even when I have to do some extra driving in order to have a vehicle (hey, how lucky are we that we have three to start with, so we’re only down to two?!).\u00a0 I can’t stop being thankful.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow the girls have their cast parties for MoezArt, which is where the cranberry loaves will be going.\u00a0 It will be an interesting logistical challenge to figure out an efficient driving route for all the places to which, and from which, I need to transport various people – college, two cast parties in two locations, karate (Jacob has his promotion test this Saturday — going up to an orange belt!), then the evening at church.\u00a0 Additionally, since before Thanksgiving I’ve been sick with some kind of bronchial thing, and I’ve been assuming I’d be better by tomorrow, but it isn’t looking promising.\u00a0 I still hope to go to choir, even if I can’t sing, just to keep up with what we’re working on for the Christmas season.<\/p>\n
After this week, Laurent just has finals next week and then she will be home with me for a while.\u00a0 I can really use her company and particular organizational skills right now, as I look around at what is left to do.\u00a0 Everything except the books is pretty well unpacked, so now I need to hit that hard and see if we can, together, work some magic.<\/p>\n
