Sunday afternoon was fairly relaxed for some of us.\u00a0 All of us except Megan and Paul, that is.\u00a0 The two of them set off on a hike, with nothing but a 20 oz bottle of water apiece, and planned to find the Lost Cabin.\u00a0 The legend of the lost cabin has been swirling in the area for many a year.\u00a0 Now, we have explored more than 90% of the folks that live up there full time, with all the hiking around we have done (Paul especially).\u00a0 And it has seemed unlikely to me that we wouldn’t have run across it at some point.\u00a0 Nonetheless, it’s a worthy goal, and they strode forth with might and purpose in their step to conquer it.<\/p>\n
They did not find the Lost Cabin.\u00a0 What they did was, they hiked nearly 6 miles, and then they called me and I said “Where are you and are you ever coming home?” and they said “Get the binoculars and look out the front door.\u00a0 See that flat topped mountain to the south?\u00a0 We’re standing on top of it waving!”\u00a0 Uh, no we could not see them 6 miles away on top of a flat mountain waving their arms.\u00a0 I said, “How about you walk to the road from there and I will come get you?”\u00a0 They said yes to that.<\/p>\n
I had Laurent drive, since she hadn’t had a turn yet this trip.\u00a0 We brought lots of water, and when Megan climbed in, she immediately started drinking and got through at least 4 bottles before we got back to the cabin.\u00a0 Lol!<\/p>\n
There was much eager anticipation throughout the afternoon, particularly on the part of Jacob, as we awaited the arrival of our good friends the Namkungs, whom we have not seen in about a year.\u00a0 They have been out in Cali for a while, and now are back in St. Johns!!\u00a0 They arrived a little before six, and we adults had a chance to visit and catch up while the kids wandered the ranch in packs, Jacob leading the younger ones, and the teenagers off in another direction.\u00a0 It was a perfect way to round out the weekend, with food, fellowship and friends (and s’mores!).<\/p>\n
Despite the busted tire and mouse invasion, it was a truly splendid weekend, covered with blessings throughout.\u00a0 Thanks be to God.<\/p>\n
