I have been thinking about posting since Thursday.\u00a0 Actually I was thinking about this post since before Thursday… we have known for a few weeks that a big layoff was coming at General Dynamics, and we knew what day it was going down.\u00a0 Paul’s back-channel source had kept him apprised of the ever-changing status, and he knew that the list of names was changing daily, so there was always that slightest chance that he would not be on it come Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0 However, he was prepared, and every day this week he\u00a0 brought a few of his things home from his cubicle, so that by Thursday morning, he had no more personal belongings at his desk.\u00a0 When the HR guy came to escort him down to receive his walking papers, he grabbed his badge and his keys and said goodbye to his cubicle for the last time.\u00a0 When he was finished in HR, they were going to escort him back to pick up his things and he just said, “That’s alright, I’m already cleared out.\u00a0 I knew this was coming.”\u00a0 He was one of maybe two people that did.<\/p>\n
Since then, he has been applying for new jobs daily online, talking to head-hunters, and has had a very good phone interview which may lead to a final on site interview.\u00a0 Unfortunately, that job is in California.\u00a0 It would mean either moving the family to CA (not going to happen) or he would have to live there during the week and come home on weekends.\u00a0 It’s not our first choice.\u00a0 But we don’t always get to choose, do we?<\/p>\n
Anyway, we are adjusting to a new reality now… the fun bit is having my husband around more.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 The tricky part is being more careful with our spending.\u00a0 We are trusting the Lord to care for us, as he always has.<\/p>\n
