Prayer to the Eternal King for Help<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

A prayer of one afflicted, when faint and pleading before the\u00a0Lord.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

<\/a> 1\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Hear my prayer, O\u00a0Lord;
\nlet my cry come to you.
\n2\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Do not hide your face from me
\nin the day of my distress.
\nIncline your ear to me;
\nanswer me speedily in the day when I call.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a> 3\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>For my days pass away like smoke,
\nand my bones burn like a furnace.
\n4\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>My heart is stricken and withered like grass;
\nI am too wasted to eat my bread.
\n5\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Because of my loud groaning
\nmy bones cling to my skin.
\n6\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>I am like an owl of the wilderness,
\nlike a little owl of the waste places.
\n7\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>I lie awake;
\nI am like a lonely bird on the housetop.
\n8\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>All day long my enemies taunt me;
\nthose who deride me use my name for a curse.
\n9\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>For I eat ashes like bread,
\nand mingle tears with my drink,
\n10\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>because of your indignation and anger;
\nfor you have lifted me up and thrown me aside.
\n11\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>My days are like an evening shadow;
\nI wither away like grass.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a> 12\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>But you, O\u00a0Lord, are enthroned forever;
\nyour name endures to all generations.
\n13\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>You will rise up and have compassion on Zion,
\nfor it is time to favor it;
\nthe appointed time has come.
\n14\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>For your servants hold its stones dear,
\nand have pity on its dust.
\n15\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>The nations will fear the name of the\u00a0Lord,
\nand all the kings of the earth your glory.
\n16\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>For the\u00a0Lord\u00a0will build up Zion;
\nhe will appear in his glory.
\n17\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>He will regard the prayer of the destitute,
\nand will not despise their prayer.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a> 18\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Let this be recorded for a generation to come,
\nso that a people yet unborn may praise the\u00a0Lord:
\n19\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>that he looked down from his holy height,
\nfrom heaven the\u00a0Lord\u00a0looked at the earth,
\n20\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>to hear the groans of the prisoners,
\nto set free those who were doomed to die;
\n21\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>so that the name of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0may be declared in Zion,
\nand his praise in Jerusalem,
\n22\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>when peoples gather together,
\nand kingdoms, to worship the\u00a0Lord.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a> 23\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>He has broken my strength in midcourse;
\nhe has shortened my days.
\n24\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>\u201cO my God,\u201d I say, \u201cdo not take me away
\nat the midpoint of my life,
\nyou whose years endure
\nthroughout all generations.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a> 25\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth,
\nand the heavens are the work of your hands.
\n26\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>They will perish, but you endure;
\nthey will all wear out like a garment.
\nYou change them like clothing, and they pass away;
\n27\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0but you are the same, and your years have no end.
\n28\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>The children of your servants shall live secure;
\ntheir offspring shall be established in your presence.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
