\nReading 1 ACTS 22:3-16<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Paul addressed the people in these words:
\n\u201cI am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia,
\nbut brought up in this city.
\nAt the feet of Gamaliel I was educated strictly in our ancestral law
\nand was zealous for God, just as all of you are today.
\nI persecuted this Way to death,
\nbinding both men and women and delivering them to prison.
\nEven the high priest and the whole council of elders
\ncan testify on my behalf.
\nFor from them I even received letters to the brothers
\nand set out for Damascus to bring back to Jerusalem
\nin chains for punishment those there as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn that journey as I drew near to Damascus,
\nabout noon a great light from the sky suddenly shone around me.
\nI fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me,
\n\u2018Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?\u2019
\nI replied, \u2018Who are you, sir?\u2019
\nAnd he said to me,
\n\u2018I am Jesus the Nazorean whom you are persecuting.\u2019
\nMy companions saw the light
\nbut did not hear the voice of the one who spoke to me.
\nI asked, \u2018What shall I do, sir?\u2019
\nThe Lord answered me, \u2018Get up and go into Damascus,
\nand there you will be told about everything
\nappointed for you to do.\u2019
\nSince I could see nothing because of the brightness of that light,
\nI was led by hand by my companions and entered Damascus.<\/p>\n

\u201cA certain Ananias, a devout observer of the law,
\nand highly spoken of by all the Jews who lived there,
\ncame to me and stood there and said,
\n\u2018Saul, my brother, regain your sight.\u2019
\nAnd at that very moment I regained my sight and saw him.
\nThen he said,
\n\u2018The God of our ancestors designated you to know his will,
\nto see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of his voice;
\nfor you will be his witness before all
\nto what you have seen and heard.
\nNow, why delay?
\nGet up and have yourself baptized and your sins washed away,
\ncalling upon his name.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
