{"id":1055,"date":"2011-02-21T00:50:09","date_gmt":"2011-02-20T19:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nettiesworld.com\/?p=1055"},"modified":"2017-06-29T10:25:21","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T17:25:21","slug":"food-for-the-poor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.adoptedjoy.com\/?p=1055","title":{"rendered":"Food for the Poor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A few years ago,<br \/>\nwhen we were working in a non-denominational inner city mission church,<br \/>\npart of our ministry there was to run a small food bank<br \/>\nfor parish families in need.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">An anonymous family generously began to donate toward<br \/>\nthat effort,<br \/>\nand since then,<br \/>\nthough we are now in a different church,<br \/>\nthey have continued the practice of donating<br \/>\n&#8211; through us &#8211;<br \/>\nto the needs in our area,<br \/>\nwhich are substantial.<br \/>\nBeing part of a church the size of Sts. Simon &amp; Jude,<br \/>\nwhich houses <a href=\"http:\/\/stvincentdepaul.net\/\">St. Vincent de Paul<\/a><br \/>\nright on the campus,<br \/>\nis a wonderful opportunity for us to join with others<br \/>\nin <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20John%203:17-18&amp;version=NKJV\">living out the Gospel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Yesterday we were blessed to spend<br \/>\nsome of that donated money<br \/>\non food to give to<br \/>\nSVdP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We made our shopping excursion a family event,<br \/>\nand despite the pouring rain,<br \/>\nor more probably <em><strong>because <\/strong><\/em>of it,<br \/>\nhad a blast.<br \/>\nMegan was the photographer for the day,<br \/>\nand chronicled our adventures at<br \/>\nWal-Mart,<br \/>\nand then unloading in the rain at church.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(And I used her pics as an opportunity to play with my new<br \/>\nAdobe Photoshop Elements 9, which I believe I am<br \/>\ngoing to LOVE, especially after I read<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/0321741331\/ref=pe_128340_18931820_pe_epc_t4\">the book I just
